About
+81 is a visual magazine launched out of Tokyo in 1997. From graphic design to fashion, photography, film, and music, +81 covers creative scenes around the world with a different theme every issue through interviews with artists along with samples of their artwork. +81 has also won much support for the distinctive editorial design of its pages. All articles are printed bilingually in both Japanese and English, which has lead to +81 being carried at booksellers not only in Japan but many other countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia as well.

We have also released several mooks and special editions on an irregular basis over the years like the photographic travelogue series +81 Voyage and the art book Tokyo Visualist, which was curated by specialists from NY and Tokyo. Meanwhile, in 2009 we held the first edition of our new creative conference Tokyo Graphic Passport. 2010 has also been a year of multifaceted projects with the simultaneous opening of the capsule concept gallery +81 Gallery+Lab in the 3331 Arts Chiyoda building and the launch of our independent publishing label, +81 Publishing. -Plus Eighty One

For the first time, CLARK MAGAZINE gathered two artists on its cover. On one side, american artist NECKFACE drew completely a typography and affixed his style throughout this magazine and on photos of the marginal photographer KEIICHI NITTA. Clark asked to KEIICHI NITTA to disguise himself as French icons. Under his lens, BRIGITTE BARDOT, SERGE GAINSBOURG, AMÉLIE POULAIN, MARCEL MARCEAU, come back to life in pages and KARL LAGERFELD is on Clark’s cover, with the scissors of NECKFACE planted in the front.
