About
DAMn° is an independent publication with an open-minded view on the interchangeable worlds of design, architecture and art. Exploring the blurred boundaries of creative forms and expressions, it is about people, products and places, tradition and originality, improvisation and inventiveness. The support of contributors from across the world offers a diverse and expansive mix of inquisitive and wilful stories - creative responses to contemporary culture with a distinctive visual and textual attitude.

DAMn°’s starting point is where most magazines stop, bringing editorial content beyond hype or conventional academic debate. Unafraid to link the personal and the political, the economic and the emotional, the stylistic and the social, DAMn° juxtaposes beauty and decay with an approach that is both thoughtful and playful. Well that’s the general idea anyway. - DAMNmagazine

About
At Dwell, we’re staging a minor revolution. We think that it’s possible to live in a house or apartment by a bold modern architect, to own furniture and products that are exceptionally well designed, and still be a regular human being. We think that good design is an integral part of real life. And that real life has been conspicuous by its absence in most design and architecture magazines. -Karrie Jacobs

About

About
Magazine was launched in September 1999 as the younger sibling publication to the limited-edition quarterlyVisionaire. If Visionaire is a couture book, V is ready-to-wear. V is large-format and visually-driven, international in scope and collaborative in spirit. V is a magazine about fashion with a capital F and all the things that go with it: art, music, film, architecture…you name it. Before V was put into print, we thought of it this way: Imagine a wall of forty-four televisions, each tuned to a different station. Today you would need a wall of 250 televisions, but it’s still a good way to think of the insane and unpredictable mix of people, places, and things that V celebrates in its pages. V is a place where uptown meets downtown, celebrities mingle with total unknowns, high art converses with underground culture. Chic, wacky, fun, fabulous…in a letter: V.     (-V Magazine)

Blueprint #276 March 2009

Posted: Februar 25th, 2009 | Author: dk | Filed under: Architecture, Design | 11 Comments »

The results of Newcastle’s neighbourhood regeneration competition – Scotswood Expo - form the backbone of issue 276. // JULES WRIGHT, ex-theatre director, muses on the process of converting her favourite disused power station into a unique, and highly successful, arts venue, now known as the Wapping Project. // GARY HUSTWIT, the Californian filmmaker behind last year’s surprise hit Helvetica (a film about a font) discusses his next project: Objectified, a film about industrial design. And we report on the recently unveiled Photographer’s Gallery in its new Soho location. Elsewhere in this issue: Herbert Wright thinks Dubai may be beginning to resemble a real city at last in Comment; Donald Trump and Hoskins Architects make unlikely bedfellows on a controversial golf village project in View; Guy Bird sends A Letter from Detroit; and the delightful Steven Appleby shares his vision of London in Paper City.

About
With a 25-year track record as the leading magazine for architecture and design, Blueprint is regarded by many around the world as the original design magazine. Following the magazine’s recent relaunch, it was described by The Observer newspaper as the ‘design bible’. Blueprint’s award-winning design sets it apart from other magazines. Published monthly, it is lovingly produced in large format on the best quality paper, with photography and illustration of the highest standard. But its long-standing appeal is also due to the finest criticism, news and feature writing on design and architecture, directed at professionals and non-professionals, alike. The magazine takes a parallel approach to the different design disciplines, reflecting a belief that fashion, product, furniture and architectural design can share ideas. As editor Vicky Richardson says: ‘Blueprint aims to use the subject of design to reveal the workings of society. The magazine is about the important role that design and architecture can play in shaping the world.’
